I’m editor Lenny Rudow, and if you’ve ever read a saltwater-oriented fishing or boating magazine, there’s a good chance you’ve already seen my work. It’s appeared in publications like Saltwater Sportsman, Marlin Magazine, Sport Fishing, The Fisherman, Boating Magazine, Texas Fish and Game, Boating World, Chesapeake Bay Magazine, and many, many others. I’ve also authored five books (you can check 'em out at www.getgup.com,) spent over a decade as sr. technical and fishing editor at Boating, and am currently the electronics editor for Marlin and boating editor for Texas Fish and Game.
If you’ve seen my boat reviews, then you already know I tell it like it is. You’ll notice that I’ll say what I don’t like, as well as what I do like. I know that you deserve to know both the good and the bad, and that you serious boaters won't be fooled by prose and press releases anyway. So you won’t find that kind of stuff here. Instead, HookedOnFishingBoats.com is going to be jam-packed with serious info, in-depth data, and real-world experience. Hopefully you'll find it entertaining, too.
In the past decade I've tested well over 1,000 different boats and you can see there's just a small fraction of them on this site. That's because HookedOnFishingBoats is my own project, started without the support of a big publisher or organization. Since there aren't any big ad-centric media types leaning over my shoulder I can pick which boats I want to talk about - the ones I like. I won't bash any brand here, but if I wouldn't recommend a specific boat to my brother or a good fishing buddy it simply won't appear on HookedOnFishingBoats.com.
